Children can begin learning chess from age 5 or 6. The Pawn certificate is designed for complete beginners and requires no prior experience.
How much does chess coaching cost?
Costs vary by coach, level, and delivery mode. Individual coach rates are listed in the directory. Player certificate assessments on Promotion Academy are R100 each.
What is a Chess SA rating?
A Chess SA rating is a numerical measure of a player's competitive strength, earned by participating in rated tournaments.
Does my child need to join a club?
Players may use the pathway independently, with a parent, school supervisor, or coach. No club membership is required to take assessments.
How do I verify a coach's certification?
