The Chess SA National Coaching Registry ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Chess South Africa (CHESSA). We maintain the national registry of certified chess coaches and provide coaching certification resources. Contact us at headcoach@chessa.co.za.

2. Information we collect

When you register as a coach, we collect:

• Full name and CHESSA ID
• Province and affiliated school or club
• Certification level and status
• Email address and phone number (if provided)
• Gender and date of birth (for demographic reporting)
• Languages spoken and specialisation areas
• FIDE ID (if applicable)

3. How we use your information

• To maintain and display the national coach directory
• To verify and manage coaching certifications
• To generate anonymised statistical reports on coaching reach across provinces
• To contact you regarding your certification status

4. What we display publicly

The following information is always visible in the public coach directory when your application is approved:

• Your full name
• Province
• Certification level and status
• Specialisations and languages

Your contact details (email and phone) are only displayed publicly if you explicitly consent to this during registration. You may update this preference at any time by contacting headcoach@chessa.co.za.

5. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information from the registry
• Withdraw consent for public display of your contact details
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa

6. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your certification is active or as required by CHESSA's administrative obligations. Upon request, we will delete or anonymise your data within 30 days.

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
